This is a sulfate-free detox for all hair types who have hard water. 

To chelate your hair is to remove product buildup AND mineral buildup. It is different from clarifying your hair in that clarifiers don't remove as much mineral buildup as chelators do. Chelating shampoos are needed when you live somewhere with hard water. Clarifiers are typically enough for those who live somewhere with regular-to soft water. 

Chelating “grabs” metal ions that have deposited and built up on the hair from hard water, then releases them from the strands. 

The Chelating Detox Shampoo is CCC's deepest, deep-cleanse. It will break down and remove the unwanted minerals that hard water deposits and leaves on your hair and scalp. 

Buildup on the hair and scalp can lead to stunted growth, dry and brittle hair, and scalp issues. If you live somewhere with hard water try incorporating this shampoo once a month or every other month. 

We used a naturally-derived, biodegradable chelating alternative to EDTA (Ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid). EDTA is what most companies use to chelate the hair, but it is produced from unsustainable fossil-fuel sources and is bad for the environment. It is also made from sodium cyanide and formaldehyde and that weirds us out. 

If you live somewhere with hard water, you may prefer to use this for your routine clarifying wash. 

 What's Inside: 

Organic shiitake mushroom extract naturally strengthens and provides elasticity. These mushrooms are a good source of vitamin D, antioxidants, selenium and copper, all of which are essential for healthy hair.

Organic tremella mushroom extract has the ability to hold moisture, it forms a light film over hair strands, locking in moisture thus helping to maintain the integrity of the hair. It is also a natural alternative to hyaluronic acid and silicones, leaving hair silky and shiny. 

Amla berry extract gently cleanses, strengthens, and conditions the hair all the way down to the roots. It promotes hair growth, reduces dandruff, prevents the graying of hair, and moisturizes dry skin.

Green tea extract has been clinically proven to improve hair growth. It stimulates the scalp as well as refreshes it. 

Organic aloe vera hydrates, moisturizes and conditions the hair without weighing it down. It also protects, and strengthens the hair. 

Plant-based keratin strengthens the hair which helps reinforce and strengthen hair fibers. Keratin is a protein composed of 18 amino acids. It is one of the primary structural components of hair, nails, and the epidermis. Keratin keeps hair healthy and lessens damage.

Sodium PCA is a natural hydrating agent derived from oils, plants and fruits. It enhances the appearance and feel of hair, by increasing hair body, suppleness, and sheen. It  improves the appearance of hair that has been damaged physically or by chemical treatment. 

Coco glucoside is a mild, natural, sulfate-free, foaming surfactant. It is an eco-cert surfactant made from renewable raw materials such as coconut and fruit sugars.

Sodium (C14-16) alpha olefin sulfonate is a naturally-derived, sulfate-free surfactant made from coconut oil. It is environmentally friendly and biodegradable. It will work to remove buildup from your scalp and strands, leaving them ready to receive moisture. 

Cocamidopropyl betaine is a mild, sulfate-free, and biodegradable surfactant derived from renewable, natural resources. It helps to make the shampoo gentle on the skin and hair.
